How to Root Samsung Galaxy Camera on Jellybean 4.1 Firmware




Ever thought in your Life that you would even Root your Samsung Galaxy Camera? Huh! Things have changed dramatically and camera now comes with a Sim card slot and if this wasn’t less then it also comes with the most happening Operating System named as “Android”. While smartphones are still dying to receive the latest Jellybean 4.0 updates, this camera comes with the Jellybean firmware. So, before we can check out on how exactly you can root your Galaxy Camera, you will have to go through express pre requisites which are mentioned below so as to make sure that the whole process gets finished easily and safely. Galaxy Camera has just launched in India with a price tag of 29, 990 INR and will soon be rolled out to other parts of the Globe very soon.


All the data in your device should be backed up so that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Make sure that you are not creating the backup with the help of KIES as sometimes it doesn’t detect the device and then the manual steps will come to the saviour.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”

From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging, ensure that the USB debugging option is ticked. Also, make sure that the battery life is not less than 40% as this may turn off the device in the middle of rooting process.

Must Haves before Proceeding:
Procedure to Root Galaxy Camera on Jellybean Firmware:

So assuming that you have downloaded Odin and Rooting Package from the above mentioned links, extract the Rooting Package to get the .tar file and then Open Odin executable file in your computer.
Now, you will need to enter your Galaxy Camera in the Download Mode. Download Mode in Galaxy Camera can be entered by pressing the Volume down button and holding this you will need to press the Camera & Power ON the device till you see the Download Mode screen with Green Robot. Please note that just in case if the Galaxy Camera boots in the normal mode, you will have to retry entering the device in the Download Mode.
With the help of original USB cable, connect your device to the computer and you will see that after a minute or two when all the drivers are installed successfully, you can now head over to click on “PDA” to select the tar file which you got after extracting the rooting package.
Click on “Start” to start the process of rooting. Please note that once the rooting process is completed, you will then see that the Camera will be rebooted. Follow the on screen instructions for setting up the camera.
To check on whether the firmware is rooted or not, you will have to check the same from the application called “Root Checker”. Download the Root Checker app from the Google PLAY Store and check with the same.
Note: Just in a rare case if the device doesn’t boot up or show the home screen then remove the battery and reinsert the same to boot the device again in the normal mode.
