R&B star Rihanna has lashed out at comedian Joan Rivers after she passed rude comments on her recent emotional breakdown on Oprah Winfrey’s show.

The 24-year-old singer broke down when she accepted that she still loves her ex-boyfriend ChrisBrown who was accused of physically assaulting her in 2009, reported Sun Online. Rivers expressed her disagreement over the issue on Twitter. “Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves ChrisBrown. Idiot! Now it’s my turn to slap her,” she tweeted. CAG’s remarks on coal block issue disputable: PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said CAG’s observations on coal block allocation issue were disputable and asked the opposition to debate the matter in Parliament to allow the country to judge where the truth lay. “I am sorry that the House is not allowed to function and the BJP is determined to disrupt the proceedings of Parliament. I wish to assure the country that we have a very strong and credible case,” he told reporters outside Parliament House after the opposition disrupted his speech in Lok Sabha. “Once again I appeal to the opposition to come back to the House to debate on these issues and let the country judge where the truth lies,” Singh said.

The Prime Minister said that he wished to make a statement in the House onthe issue but the opposition did not give him the opportunity. Singh said CAG’s conclusions on the coal block allocations were “disputable”. “The observations of CAG are disputable and they will be challenged when the matter comes before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee,” he said. He appealed to the opposition to allow Parliament to function. Singh quoted an Urdu couplet to convey that he wanted to clear the air on the issue but the opposition is unrelenting.

Taliban behead 17 at party in Afghanistan: officials

Taliban Islamist insurgents beheaded 17 civilians, includingtwo women, who were holding a party with music in a southern Afghanistan village, officials said today.

“I can confirm that this is the work of the Taliban,” the Helmand provincial governor’s spokesman Daud Ahmadi told AFP, referring to the hardliners notorious during their rule for public executions and the suppression of music and parties.

“Two women and 15 men were beheaded. They were partying with music in an area under the control of the Taliban,” he said.

Nematullah Khan, the Musa Qala district chief confirmed that the villagers had organised a party with music, and one local official said he suspected that thetwo women had been dancing.

Secret parties with dancing women from a gypsy-type tribe are common across southern Afghanistan.

During their 1996-2001 rule in Afghanistan the Taliban, waging a fierce insurgency against the NATO-backed government of President Hamid Karzai, also tried to stop the mixing of men and women who were not related.

The latest atrocity happened near Zamindawar village, an area on the border between Kajaki and Musa Qala districts where the Taliban are active.

The insurgents have in the past been blamed for beheading local villagers, mostly over charges of spying for Afghan and US-led NATO forces.

Haji Musa Khan, a tribal elder in Musa Qala district, said the region had seen a surge in such killings in recent months.

Romney has accumulated ‘extreme’ views: Obama

President Barack Obama says Republican rival Mitt Romneyhas locked himself into “extreme positions” oneconomic and social issues and would surely impose them if elected, trying to discredit his challenger at the biggest political moment of his life.

The 25-minute interview was part of a campaign by Obama’s team to take some of the spotlight before Romney introduces himself to a TV audience of millions on Thursday as he accepts his party’s presidential nomination.

Obama depicted his opponent as having accumulated ideas far outside the mainstream, with no room to turn back. “I can’t speak to Governor Romney’smotivations,” Obama said. “What I can say is that he has signed up for positions, extreme positions, that are very consistent with positions that a number of House Republicans have taken. And whether he actually believes in those or not, I have no doubt that he would carry forward some of the things that he’s talked about.” Obama also offered a glimpse of how he would govern in a second term of divided government.

He said he would be willing to make a range of compromises with Republicans, confident there are some who would rather make deals than remain part of “one of the least productive Congresses in American history.” Obama spoke to the AP before a long weekend with his family at Camp David, the secluded presidential retreat in the Maryland mountains.
